Despite a hard driving rain, thousands of people rushed to 5 Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in HCMC’s District 4 to join the party of fashion, light, music, models, dancers, DJs and a rock band at Dep Fashion Show 8 with the theme ‘Freedom’ on Saturday.

Dep Fashion Show 8 confirmed the brand name of Dep to fashion lovers with its creativeness. With a simple catwalk in the middle of the warehouse, a glass box the Vị trí đặt quảng cáomiddle of the catwalk and a great backdrop featuring animated pictures of each fashion collection, the organizers pulled the attention of the audience to the models in fashion collections by Do Manh Cuong, Le Ha, Ha Truong and Tom K Nguyen.

Music had an important role in the show since it emphasized the theme of each collection. ‘Like a Bird’ by Do Manh Cuong was accompanied by a strong and fast beat at the beginning but turned gentle with an opera voice mixed with electronic noise. DJ Yves for the collection ‘As I Am’ by Ha Truong made the audience swing.

Performance art by models was another important element. They performed, danced and acted like professional actors in each costume. The audience turned up the applause when model Truong Thi May rolled from the middle of the stage to the back stage.

‘Women’ by female designer Le Ha expressed a new conception in fashion design when mixing male styles in female costumes that erased the limit of gender. Models in these designs looked strong, but also supple. The non-gender element was exposed in the collection ‘Beyond the Limit’ by Tom K Nguyen with many daring cutting lines breaking normal fashion patterns. This collection surprised audiences since two male models kissed each other and held hands to the back stage. Finally, ‘As I Am’ of designer Ha Truong, attracted attention by its contrast in materials and designs.

“What an impressive show” shouted a foreigner.
