Huong Giang crowned Miss Asia

Huong Giang was crowned as Miss Grand Slam Asia 2009 by Global Beauties at the Park Hyatt Saigon Hotel in HCMC on July 30.
Global Beauties selected top contenders from international pageants such as Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Earth and Miss Tourism Queen International to compete in the Asian Grand Slam.
Giang is the first Vietnamese to win this title.
She was previously voted in Top 3 of Sexiest Woman Alive and Top 10 of Face of the Year by Global Beauties earlier this year.
At the crowing ceremony, Giang announced her future roles as Smiling Ambassador for Operation Smile and Goodwill Ambassador for “Dreams of Thuy”, a charity program initiated by Tuoi Tre newspaper to combat cancer in kids.
Following the crowning ceremony, Giang hosted the auction of “Miss World joining hands”, a painting with signatures and wishes from over 80 world beauty queens.
The painting sold for US$10,000. Model Anh Thu and her friends also contributed another US$2,000 to the program. All proceeds of the program will be used to build a children’s playground for the HCMC Tumor Hospital.
