HCMC - Saigon Industry Corporation (CNS) has introduced itself to the HCMC government as a capable contractor to fight landslides along the Saigon River by using high-strength uPVC plastic stakes to create defense lines.
The company said in a petition sent to the city authorities on Tuesday that between June and September last year, it had collaborated with related agencies to conduct a survey on landslide-prone sites along the Saigon River. According to the survey, there are 34 sites with a total length of 47km that should be protected by these plastic piles.
The uPVC plastic stake factory will be built in North West Cu Chi Industrial Zone at a total cost of some VND30 billion and it is slated to commence operation by the end of April, said Nguyen Van Tho, managing director of CNS.
The dike system in HCMC stretches 1,600 km, including 400km along major rivers. However, the dike system is reinforced by soil, which is easily breached by tidal water and thus vulnerable to flooding.
CNS, established in 2006, specializes in the sectors of chemicals, machinery, electronics, IT and food processing.
