Massive win for Hanoi T&T; SHB Danang beat Saigon

Dong Tam Tiles go second in First Division

By Vu Duc - The Saigon Times Daily

HCMC – Hanoi T&T crushed Thanh Hoa 4-2 on Saturday to consolidate top spot in the V-League, while SHB Danang earned an impressive 2-1 victory over Saigon at Chi Lang Stadium on Sunday thanks to a last-gasp winner.

Sunday easily beat Hanoi goalkeeper Duong Hong Son to open the scoring in the 10th minute. Samson Kayode was on target with a neat header leveling the game at 1-1. Thach Bao Khanh was felled by Le Bat Hieu in the penalty area in the 30th minute with Nguyen Ngoc Duy putting Hanoi 2-1 up at the break.

Hosts Thanh Hoa were reduced to 10 men when Lemessa Fikru Teferra was sent off in the 47th minute.

However, Le Quoc Phuong equalized for the home side in the 58th minute with a penalty when Ngoc Duy deliberately handled in the box.

Khanh and Kayode, though, made sure of victory for the leaders. Hanoi T&T’s Cristiano Rocha Roland was sent off in the 90th minute after receiving his second yellow card.

With the victory, Hanoi have 36 points, just one point ahead of second-placed SHB Danang.

Danang striker Krisztian Timar opened for his team in the 18th minute before Huynh Kesley Alves equalized for Saigon in the 34th minute with a penalty before Klechkaroski Nicolche won the game 2-1 in injury time.

Danang are now four points ahead of Saigon.

Hanoi FC beat visitors Hoang Anh Gia Lai 3-2 at Hang Day Stadium. Le Cong Vinh, Tran Dinh Hung and Anjembe Timothy scored for the home side, while Aganun O. Olushola and Khuat Huu Long netted for the visitors.

With the victory, Hanoi FC move into eighth with 25 points, level with seventh-placed Thanh Hoa.

Defending champions Song Lam Nghe An drew 1-1 with Becamex Binh Duong at Vinh Stadium to sit fourth on 27 points but their chances of regaining their title are slipping away fast.

In the relegation battles, Kienlongbank KG won 1-0 at home to Khatoco Khanh Hoa while Navibank Saigon were held 0-0 by Dong Thap at Thong Nhat Stadium.

Kienlongbank climb to 12th on 23 points while Khanh Hoa fall into the relegation zone with 19 points.

Haiphong on 11 points now look doomed after losing 3-0 to XM The Vissai Ninh Binh.
