SHB Danang go top; Song Lam fourth after 5-2 rout

Hanoi still lead Div 1; Dong Tam Tiles still second

HCMC – SHB Danang leapfrogged Hanoi T&T to go top of the V-League after a 2-0 home victory over Hanoi FC on Saturday, while Song Lam Nghe An crushed Haiphong 5-2 at Vinh Stadium on Sunday.    

Backed by an enthusiastic local support, the Danang players began the match in high spirits and were very confident with a lot of possession with Hanoi FC trying to keep them at bay with a brave defensive display.

It was a matter of time, though, before the home side opened the scoring and it came in the 37th minute when Nicolas Hernandez broke the offside trap before beating Manh Cuong at the near post.

Huynh Quoc Anh sealed victory for SHB Danang in the 40th minute.

SHB Danang now have 41 points and create a two point lead ahead of second-placed Hanoi T&T, who were defeated 3-2 by Ninh Binh at Hang Day Stadium with Gustavo scoring for Ninh Binh in the 13th and 48th minutes while Sanogo Maussa grabbed an 81st minute winner

Samson Kayode and Nguyen Van Quyet netted for the home side in the 76th and 80th minutes.

Saigon Xuan Thanh grabbed their ninth victory in a 2-1 win over Khatoco Khanh Hoa 2-1 at Thong Nhat Stadium. Saigon are third on 35 points, five points ahead of fifth-placed XM The Vissai Ninh Binh and four ahead of  defending champions Song Lam Nghe An who move up to fourth after thrashing Haiphong 5-2 in the central city of Vinh on Sunday.

National midfielder Nguyen Trong Hoang opened for Song Lam in the 17th minute with Hector Hughtun Kerin contributing efforts in the 24th and 78th minutes. Bebbe Gustave Anicet and Dieng Cheikh Abass netted one goal apiece.

Hoang Dinh Tung and Kavin Elroy Bryan scored for Haiphong in the 74th and 88th minutes respectively.

Haiphong stay bottom on 11 points, 11 points behind 13th-positioned Khatoco Khanh Hoa.

In other matches on Sunday, Hoang Anh Gia Lai defeated Kienlongbank KG 3-0 in the Central Highlands city of Pleiku, Becamex Binh Duong earned a 1-0 win over Dong Thap at Go Dau Stadium and Navibank Saigon were defeated 2-0 in Thanh Hoa Province.

* Hanoi still remain on top of the First Division after beating Quang Ninh Coal 2-0 at Hang Day Stadium on Sunday, while Dong Tam Long An Tiles confirmed second after beating Junior Hanoi 2-1 in the Mekong Delta province of Long An on Saturday.

Leaders Hanoi now have 41 points from 12 wins, two draws and six losses, five points ahead of second-placed Dong Tam Tiles, while Dong Nai climbed to third with 34 points as they beat HCMC 2-1 at Thong Nhat Stadium.

Tay Ninh moved into 13th place with 20 points after beating Binh Dinh 3-1,  while TDC Binh Duong fell to the bottom after a 1-1 home draw with Can Tho.

In other matches, An Giang were defeated 3-2 by Quang Nam at home and Junior SHB Danang beat Long Dong 2-1 at Chi Lang Stadium.
