To launch the big event, the Vietnam Chess Federation collaborated with HDBank to host a contest between budding chess stars and grandmaster Le Quang Liem last week. Twenty players took on Liem but he defeated nineteen with only Vo Tuan Anh, 28, earning a notable draw against the grandmaster.
