Writing contest about Long Bien Bridge launched

The newspaper The Thao Van Hoa (Sports and Culture) has launched a contest called “Dragon Bridge tells 1,000-year story” on the theme of Long Bien Bridge, in Hanoi, for writers inspired by nostalgia and honor, reports Vietnam+.

All expatriates and Vietnamese can enter but their entries must be written in Vietnamese. Contestants can write about memories, love stories, research results and discoveries, in old or modern times, that involve the bridge. Contestants can also express their  imagination for the future  and cultural preservation of the bridge.

Nguyen Thi Minh Thai, chairwoman of the judging panel, said, “The bridge has existed for 100 years. Entries with about 2,000 words,

attaching photos, video clips taken by contestants are highly recommended.”

Awards will amount to VND76 million, the first prize being VND25 million.

Entries can be submitted to longbien@thethaovanhoa.vn or the office of Bao The Thao Van Hoa at 33 Le Thanh Ton Street, Hanoi. The deadline is September 15.
