Creative networking in town on Friday

British council announces contest for young filmmakers

This afternoon’s Creative Entrepreneurs Networking Event, aims to connect creative people around town.

Vị trí đặt quảng cáoJointly organized by the British Council and the HCMC Creative Entrepreneurs Network Committee, it will be held at QD Bar and Lounge, 138 Ton That Dam Street in HCMC’s District 1 at 3 p.m.

The bi-monthly event, conducted in both English and Vietnamese, aims at strengthening the relationship within the creative entrepreneur community in HCMC, a leading city in this field in Vietnam.

Event attendees are updated on new information and ideas on how to make new partnerships in the creative field. The event also provides a forum for creative entrepreneurs to share experiences and exchange ideas.

Participating in the event are mainly entrepreneurs, institutions/ associations and reporters in the creative industries, including advertising, architecture, the arts, antiques market, crafts, design, designer fashion, film, music, the performing arts, publishing, software and computer services, interactive leisure software, television and radio. In the near future, the HCMC Creative Entrepreneurs Network plans to expand its activities.

*British Council Vietnam is running the second International Young Screen Entrepreneur award to develop the potential of young creative filmmakers and celebrate their achievements.

The council is also looking for a Vietnamese representative to participate in the international competition in London in October. This award follows the first award in 2008 which focused on young entrepreneurs in the fashion industry here.

Contestants must have at least three years experience, working in various fields of screen production, including film, documentary, shorts, television production, and animation. They must be aged 25-35 by September 5. Apart from good English language skills, participants must demonstrate their potential to become a future leader in the screen sector and their ability to promote this sector in Vietnam. Short-listed candidates will enter the presentation and interview round in September.

Application forms can be downloaded from www.britishcouncil.org/vietnam. The national winner will receive a 10-12 day trip to the UK to join the International Competition, participate in the “London Film Festival” and have a chance to network with UK screen industry’s partners and winners from participating countries.
