A mosaic displaying typical features of Argentina was unveiled in Hanoi on Wednesday as part of the Ceramic Road along the Red River project to celebrate the 1,000th birthday of Thang Long-Hanoi.
The work, covering about 65 square meters under the Long Bien Bridge, was inspired by the Tango and the beautiful sceneries of subtropical Argentina. Using lovely, vivid colors, it is a collaboration of Argentinean artists Maria Teresa Bobbio, Christina Diaz and Sojia Vitulic and Vietnamese artists.
Apart from highlighting Hanoi’s mural the work aims to promote friendship between the two countries.
A similar mosaic was made in central Rawson, the capital of Argentina’s southern Chubut Province, on May 18 as a gift from the artists and craftsmen of the project to the city on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Argentina’s May Revolution (May 25, 1810-2010.)
The work New Era, which is 8.6 meters long and 1.2 meters high, was made from 10,000 ceramic pieces from Hanoi’s Bat Trang Pottery Village. It is placed at the entrance of Chubut Province’s administrative building in Rawson and depicts images of Vietnam’s peach blossoms and Pavilion of Constellation of Literature and Argentina’s national flower, Rawson’s church and a battleship called Freedom toward the Sun.
