The fifth solo painting exhibition by artist Tuan Dung named ‘Khoang troi rieng’ (Private space) has opened at the Exhibition House, 16 Ngo Quyen Street in Hanoi, with 80 works on display.
Dung was a soldier who has traveled to many places and witnessed the difficulties, misery and pain in the aftermath of the revolution wars. Therefore, his love for people and the nation is an inspiration for his paintings; with the peaceful landscapes of countryside, ancient architecture, daily activities and themes of war presented at the show. Visitors will see famous cultural sites such as Temple of Literature, Voi Phuc Temple, old quarters in Hanoi and Hoi An ancient town.
Dung’s paintings are full of love and desire for peace, nostalgia for countryside as well as humanism.
Dung also expresses his talent in portraits, depicting famous people in the showbiz world as well as ordinary people he meets.
The highlight of the exhibition is the painting ‘Chien tranh da di qua’ (The war has gone) of an old woman sitting by an incense pot with offerings. The painting presents the pain of the mother remembering her lost sons who died in the battlefield.
The show runs until next Monday.
