The Saigon Zoological and Botanical Garden last weekend finished the restoration of the bronze elephant statue which Thai King Paramindr Maha Prajadhipok had presented to the zoo during his visit to the city in 1930.

The restoration of the statue, which weighs more than a ton, is funded by Thailand’s SCG Group, said Phan Viet Lam, director of the zoo. It is unique in Vietnam and it has attracted many visitors to the zoo over the years, Lam added.
