BBGV to host fun run for charity

The British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV) is preparing for the 9th annual fun run to be held here in HCMC on September 28.
The organizer expect that there will be some 5,000 people taking part in the event, which is organized to raise funds for local charities in and around HCMC.
As programmed, participants will gather at the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens facing to Le Duan Blvd. Dist.1 at 6 a.m. to prepare for the fun run. Racers will start their competition at 6:45 a.m., running through the streets of Le Duan, Dong Khoi, Mac Thi Buoi, Hai Ba Trung and then coming back to the zoo for the finish line.
A prize for the male and female winner is a Vietnam Airlines business class return ticket to either Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. Meanwhile the second place winners will be given vouchers for two nights at any of Victoria Hotels’ locations.
There are prizes worth US$50 and an Adidas bag for teenager racers winner and US$25 and an Adidas bag for the second winner of the teenager category.
Besides, the organizer gives other prizes, which are Milo bikes, for children who win in the competition.
The organizer says it is expected to raise more than last year’s US$30,000 for charities this year. Last year, BBGV used the fund for supporting Christina Noble Children’s Foundation medical scheme, Thang Long School’s sewing project, Saigon Children’s Charity extra help program, students from association for promoting educational development of HCMC, Operation Smile’s Care Center in Hue and Handicap International’s rehabilitation center in HCMC.
BBGV says it has yet chosen charities for distributing this year’s fund and is selecting for suitable ones. Registration for the race will begin this Wednesday and cost for the race is at VND100,000 for adults and VND50,000 for children from six to 12 years and free of charge for kids under six.
