LIN Center for Community Development (LIN), a local NonProfit Organization (NPO), will hold an interactive event to promote the welfare of females at RMIT, 21 Pham Ngoc Thach Street in District 3 on December 15 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“We want to provide a fun and meaningful way to connect people who feel strongly about the welfare of women and girls,” LIN Deputy Director Pham Truong Son said.

LIN has invited representatives from the business sector, academia, non-profit organizations, government and media to mingle and learn about the projects for females.

During the event, guests will hear presentations by three featured projects and then vote for the project they feel best meets the needs of disadvantaged females.

Participants to the event will be able to interact and vote on how to award grants to local initiatives. Each of the three-featured projects will be awarded a grant based on the votes.

The proposed projects include initiatives such as: prevention of violence against women with hearing disabilities; life skills and personal safety education for disadvantaged girls; and microloans to women from poor households.

LIN has raised the funds for the grants from corporations and individuals in the community, which are then matched, Dong-for-Dong, by the Global Fund for Community Foundations, up to VND150 million.

The grants will help women who suffer from discrimination, violence and gender disparities access public services, economic opportunities, and income.

Last year’s first Community Grant event attracted over 150 people, which awarded VND120 million to two projects helping migrant workers in HCMC.
