Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam on Thursday started up its METRO Care & Share and Tet 2010 program offering Tet gifts to 5,000 low income families in provinces and cities nationwide, including Binh Dinh, Danang, Hanoi, Can Tho, An Giang, Binh Duong, HCMC, Dong Nai and Hai Phong.
The more than VND1.2 billion charity program includes 17.5 tons of rice, 4.5 tons of sugar, 8,100 liters of cooking oil, 4.5 tons of seasoning, 2.72 tons of canned meat, 800 kilograms of noodles and 540 kilograms of instant milk-coffee. All the products are METRO private brands such as Aro, Fine Food and Horeca Select.
“This year, all the Tet gifts offered by Metro Care & Share and Tet 2010 are Metro private brand products because we want to give the program a very special and private sense of Metro and communicate our message: Metro cares!,” said Randy Guttery, managing director of Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam.
In October and November 2009, the Company supported food and drinking water to typhoon victims in Danang and Binh Dinh at a cost of US$55,000. In January, 2009, Metro Care & Share donated Tet food gifts to 4,600 people in Hanoi, HCMC, Danang and Dong Nai.
“By this activity, we teach our employees the Metro culture of responsibly assuming social engagement wherever we do business,” said Guttery.
