Consul General of India Dr. Jitendra Nath Misra has donated VND67 million to Ms. Tran Anh Tuyet, director of the Khai Tri Orphanage Center in Thoai Son District, An Giang Province, says a statement of the consulate.
Lam Minh Chieu, Chairman of the People’s Committee of An Giang Province, thanked Misra for the
donation. He said that with the onset of the Lunar New Year, the donation had come at a good time. Misra stated that the donation had been made to the Khai Tri Orphanage in view of the province’s fine track record in delivering development projects and fostering cooperation with the consular corps.
Established in 2004, the Center provides shelter and education for 130 orphans.
Cooperation with the Mekong Delta’s provinces is an important part of the work of the Consulate General of India, in the context of developing a multi-faceted relationship with southern Vietnam within the framework of India’s Look East Policy.
