The Ca Na waters at dawn - Photo: Mong Binh
Gentle waves ripple the shore and the first sunlight casts over the surface of ocean at Ca Na Beach.

The sleeping princess is the name given by locals to this peaceful beach, which is a popular short stop-over for tourists on the border of Binh Thuan and Ninh Thuan provinces.

The gentle sounds and magnificent coastline scenes refresh the mind and inspire the spirit of tired travelers.

Situated more than 250 kilometers from HCMC, the bus-stop at Ca Na serves excellent fish, squid and other seafood specialties to hungry travelers on Highway 1. It’s the halfway point between Nha Trang and HCMC.

Many travelers opt for Ca Na to take a break, because of the white sandy beaches, warm water and the second-to-none scenery. The cool sea air is a welcome relief from the jostle of the highway. Many take a siesta here or spend the night.

Overnighters can wake to serenity at sunrise and wander the empty beach. This might help them understand why locals compare Ca Na Beach to “a sleeping princess.”

There are guesthouses and hotels for travelers to stay and deck chairs are available to rent for a nap at this unspoiled beach.
