Tobacco causes economic losses of VND24.6 trillion a year in Vietnam

HCMC – The World Health Organization (WHO) said tobacco-related economic losses in Vietnam are estimated to amount to VND24.6 trillion (US$1.17 billion) a year, or VND67.4 billion a day.

A large-scale environment pollution case is devastating a large swathe of coastal areas these days, as fish farmers in Kien Giang Province are decrying mass deaths of fish, crabs and clams, among others. It sounds all reasonable when the Ministry of Construction approves a petition by Dat Lanh Real Estate Company to develop commercial condos measuring at 25 square meters each in HCMC to meet the demand of low-income earners. Such condos, with the cost ranging between VND200 million and VND300 million, have been built in several neighboring provinces such as Binh Duong and Dong Nai, and have been sold out since they are affordable to the poor.
