Rie Furuse back on Park Lounge stage

Following the successful performance early this year, Japanese-born singer Rie Furuse will make a comeback to take the stage at Park Lounge on the ground floor of Park Hyatt Saigon from October 15.

Born and brought up in Japan, Furuse showed her inborn talent of singing and playing the piano at an early age, so her parents enrolled her in music classes at the age of three.

Later, while doing a degree in French literature at Dokkyo University in Tokyo, she discovered a fascination for jazz and was immediately hooked on the music. After performing in several jazz clubs in Tokyo, she moved to Paris, known as the cradle of jazz music, to develop her music career and look for a chance to make a performance tour through Europe.

She has created her own musical style, a mix of contemporary jazz, fusion, funk and jazz-pop.

During her visit in Vietnam in 2010, she was honored at the festival of the 48 Hour Film Project Awards in HCMC, with “The Best Music Award” for one of her songs “The One” composed by herself and Chris Mosdell, which was featured in the movie soundtrack “Postcards from Heaven.”

Furuse is expected to perform at the Park Lounge from Friday to Wednesday every week, starting 8 p.m.
