HANOI – Vietnam’s national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and Air France clinched a joint venture agreement on October 10 to operate flights between Vietnam and France.

The deal will enable the airlines to offer more choices and greater convenience for their passengers by sharing flight networks, and regional and international transit hubs, namely Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, and Paris Charles de Gaulle airports to 50 Air France’s European destinations and 21 domestic destinations of Vietnam Airlines.

The deal will also help connect flight networks among member airlines of the SkyTeam Alliance to transport passengers to more than 1,000 destinations worldwide.

The deal will come into force early next month.

France is one of Vietnam Airlines’ largest and most important markets in Europe, especially since the launch of its direct air service to Paris in 2003. Around 400,000 passengers travel between Vietnam and France on an annual basis.

Each week, Vietnam Airlines operates 10 services between Vietnam and France while its French partner has three flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and HCMC.
