The STF-Pham Phu Thu scholarship program, a social initiative of the Saigon Times Foundation under the Saigon Times Group, and Masan Nutri-Science Co Ltd late last week presented 60 scholarships worth VND3 million each to underprivileged students in Binh Luc District in the northern province of Ha Nam.

Nguyen Tuan Anh, a 34-year-old man whose son Nguyen Anh Duc is attending primary school in Ngoc Lu Ward of the district, said the amount of money granted from the scholarship program helps him cover tuition fees and buy school supplies for his child in this academic year.

The STF-Pham Phu Thu scholarship program presented 120 scholarships worth VND360 million in total to needy students in Hau Giang and Ha Nam provinces. The first 60 scholarships were delivered to students in Long My District in Hau Giang Province on November 28.

Pham Phu Ngoc Trai, chairman of Masan Nutri-Science, said the STF-Pham Phu Thu scholarship program is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program to assist poor students to continue their schooling.

Born in January 2017, the STF-Pham Phu Thu scholarship program is designed to support poor school children with outstanding academic performance. The program has to date granted more than 400 scholarships to underprivileged students nationwide.
