HCMC – The local stock market had another day of stunning gains on December 4 as large caps attracted huge cash flow, lifting the VN-Index up a massive 9.69 points, or 1.01%, at 970.02.

Leading gas group GAS and construction firm ROS were the only losers in the heavyweight group, falling 0.5% and 6% against the previous session at VND49,500 and VND168,000 per share respectively. Having dropped in the morning phase, VRE, a retail enterprise, closed at the reference price of VND49,500 a share on matching volume of 1.58 million shares.

Of note, dairy firm VNM advanced 3.5% at VND203,000 a share and beverage company SAB added 0.7% at VND332,300 per share, making the most positive contributions to the main index.

In the VN30 basket, steelmaker HSG and petroleum firm PVD went up to the ceiling prices of VND25,650 and VND20,200 a share while their volumes reached 8.1 million shares and 4.8 million shares respectively. Meanwhile, HPG, another steel business, increased 1.2% at VND42,000 per share with 4.4 million shares traded.

Turnover on HCMC market improved with 270 million shares worth VND6.2 trillion exchanged, up 18.6% and 17.6% versus last Friday respectively.

FLC, a property enterprise, took the lead for liquidity with 40.5 million shares traded but it fell 3.3% at VND7,050 per share, followed by lender STB and construction firm ASM with over 10 million shares each.
The HNX-Index gained 1.21 points, or 1.05%, at 116.7 while trading volume and value on the Hanoi bourse soared 51.7% and 32% at 97.8 million shares worth VND1.2 trillion.

Among biggest gainers, lender SHB was the most actively traded stock with 37.1 million shares, rising 2.1% versus the session earlier at VND9,600 per share. Bank stock ACB climbed 3.7% at VND36,500 per share while petroleum technical service firm PVS increased 3.1% at VND19,600 a share.

Meanwhile, VPI, which is active in the investment sector, dropped nearly 3.4% at VND40,000 per share while plastic enterprise NTP fell 1.7% at VND81,000 a share.

For speculative stocks, construction firm PVX shot up to the ceiling price of VND2,400 per share on matching volume of 5.1 million shares. KLF, a trading and food service firm, closed at the reference price of VND3,600 per share with over 3.7 million shares traded.

Foreigners shifted to the selling side, net selling over VND16.9 billion on the southern bourse and VND8.7 billion on the northern exchange.
