<table align="left" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="sgtoimageleft" style="margin-bottom:8px" width="100%"> <tbody> <tr> <td align="center"> <img alt="" class="sgtoimageleft" rel="POPUP,600,401" src="/Uploads/Articles/57735/0a85f_bond.jpg" style="WIDTH: 200px" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="sgtoimageleft"> Hanoi Stock Exchange officials check results of a G-bond auction - PHOTO: TL</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <p align="left" class="SGTOSummary"> HCMC &ndash; There are currently 612 types of Government bond (G-bond) traded on the market with a total value of VND1,015 trillion (US$44.7 billion), equivalent to 23% of the country&rsquo;s gross domestic product (GDP) and up 8% over end-2016, according to the State Securities Commission.</p> <p class="SGTOContent"> Data of the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) shows the outstanding value of G-bonds has increased by only 8.4% year-on-year but transaction value has surged 33%, showing that the market remains fairly active.</p> <p class="SGTOContent"> The average transaction value has reached more than VND8.8 trillion per session, up nearly 40% year-on-year. A quarter of the sessions had a transaction value of more than VND10 trillion each.</p> <p class="SGTOContent"> Notably, repo trading value has surged more than 74% year-on-year and accounted for 48.5% of total trading value. These figures show the strong growth of the G-bond market.</p> <p class="SGTOContent"> The average maturity term of G-bonds has extended. The proportion of G-bonds with a term of more than five years has increased from 15% in 2016 to 20% this year.</p> <p class="SGTOContent"> Foreign investors had purchased more than VND18.5 trillion of G-bonds as of December 15, a 1.6-fold increase compared to 2016.</p> <p class="SGTOContent"> The proportions of G-bonds with maturity terms of 20 and 30 years have surged to 9.98% and 14.7% respectively.</p> <p class="SGTOContent"> The average term of bonds issued by the State Treasury is 14.02 years, 5.7 years longer than in 2016. The winning interest rates have declined since late 2016, with the deepest fall in the 15, 20, and 30-year terms.</p>
