For many companies, contributing to the community is part of their corporate social responsibility often initiated and launched by leaderships. At Bayer Vietnam, such a spirit has been assumed by individual employees as well, as seen in many projects being initiated and conducted by the company’s staff members and funded by Bayer Cares Foundation.

Outstanding projects are “Improvement of learning and playing conditions for children in remote regions” implemented by Nguyen Van Thanh, and “Improvement of living conditions and environment by household waste classification and organic waste composting at suburban area of HCMC” initiated by Le Thi Thu Ha.

Furthermore, Ho Tran Thanh Van has come up with the idea of building wells for ethnic minority people to provide them easy access to fresh water. Meanwhile, Vo Thanh Thuan has contributed to the community via his project named “Protection of unfortunate children and youth in southern Vietnam.”

Two other projects aim to save children from drowning and provide better educational and psychological assistance for cancer patients and their relatives, conducted by Ho Thi Ngoc Thuy and Dinh Tran Mai Que Dung respectively.

Kohei Sakata, managing director of Bayer Vietnam, said these projects are in the fields of science education, healthcare and nutrition, proving stringent efforts and strong dedication of not only Bayer Vietnam but also its employees to improve people’s living standards.

The passion and volunteerism of Bayer Vietnam’s employees not only show their willingness to support the community but also their awareness and responsibility to contribute to the society in line with Bayer’s business mission, Sakata added.

Kemal Malik, a board member of Bayer AG responsible for Innovation and member of the Executive Committee of the Bayer Cares Foundation, said many employees of Bayer are willing to use their professional expertise and experiences to make positive changes and deal with challenges the society is facing.

Bayer is a global corporation with a history of more than 150 years, specializing in the fields of healthcare and agriculture. Its products and services are designed to benefit people and improve their quality of life.

The Bayer Volunteering Programme was launched in Germany in 2007 and deployed globally in 2013, there have been 508 volunteer projects in 66 different countries funded by the Bayer Cares Foundation, with total funding of 1.76 million Euros (US$2.12 million).

Bayer Vietnam has participated in the program since 2013. Each year, two to four projects are chosen to receive funding from the Bayer Cares Foundation. This year, six more projects are expected to be funded and implemented in Vietnam.
