British education providers seek partnerships in Vietnam

Leading UK vocational training and education providers are visiting HCMC and Hanoi from January 15 to 18 to build and expand partnerships with Vietnamese companies, schools, and government organizations.

The delegation represents colleges, private training providers and companies specializing in providing business solutions such as professional development programs, vocational qualifications, teacher training, and management consultancy.

The UK Department for International Trade, in cooperation with the Vietnam Directorate for Vocational Education and Training, will organize seminars in HCMC on January 15 and in Hanoi on January 17. The seminars will offer opportunities to share the UK’s expertise in technical and vocational training and education, and introduce its technology and equipment in multiple sectors like automotive, construction, hospitality and English skills.

HCMC and Eurocham step up cooperation

HCMC chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong on Tuesday met with Nicolas Audier, co-chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham), to discuss measures to promote cooperation between the two sides, Nhan Dan newspaper reports.

Audier said EuroCham will implement a number of cooperation programs with HCMC and neighboring localities this year, including introducing the city’s business potential to European firms and calling for European countries to accelerate the official signing and ratification of the EU-Vietnam free trade agreement.

Cooperation between HCMC and EuroCham will focus on smart city development, renewable energy, transport, logistics and auto industry.

PM attends Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Meeting

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and a Vietnamese high-ranking delegation on January 10 arrived at Pochentong International Airport in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to attend the second Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Leaders’ Meeting, the Government news website reports.

Upon arrival, PM Phuc met with Cambodian PM Hun Sen and then joined with leaders of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and China to attend the second MLC Leaders’ Meeting themed “Our River of Peace and Sustainable Development”.

The event, organized every two years in rotation among member countries, aims at improving mutual trust and understanding for maintaining peace and stability, fostering sustainable development, narrowing the development gap and strengthening the friendship among the countries.

45 Vietnamese expelled for illegal entry into China

Chinese authorities have expelled 45 Vietnamese for illegal entry, news website Dan Tri reports.

These people were received by police and border guards of Lang Son Province on Monday. According to the police, they are from Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Hai Duong, Thai Nguyen and Bac Lieu provinces.

They were detained for two to three months after entering China to look for work without permission.

Vietjet offers 1 million promo tickets on domestic flights

From January 10 to 12, 2018, Vietjet offers one million promotional tickets priced from only VND0 exclusive of tax and surcharge for all Vietjet domestic routes flying from the north to the south with flying time from February 1, 2018 to March 4.
