ANZ continues money management skill education

Most recent participants included students from Foreign Trade University (FTU), FPT University and employees of ANZ’s institutional client unit.

ANZ CEO Vietnam and Head of Greater Mekong region, Dennis Hussey, said: “We are pleased to have increased the reach of the program in 2017. We have always believed ANZ has an important role to play in improving the financial wellbeing of the community here beyond our financial products and services, and financial literacy is vital in building a sustainable and thriving economy.”

Director of Institute of Economic and International Trade, FTU, Associate Director, Nguyen Van Minh, said: “After three successful years, we are glad to continue our MoneyMinded partnership with ANZ into 2018. This program is highly practical for our students who are about to enter the workforce and make financial decisions on their own.”

Ta Ngoc Cau, vice director of FPT University, said: “Given the ongoing positive feedback from FPT students participating in MoneyMinded training since its pilot in 2012, we have decided to make the program part of our Orientation Week for all first year students at our Hanoi campus. This will help extend the reach of the program to the younger generation in Vietnam.”

The 2016 Vietnam MoneyMinded Impact Report, which was independently compiled by the Institute of Economic and International Trade under the FTU, showed the program has improved participants’ ability to save and increased their confidence in managing money. Participants have also reported an improvement in overall satisfaction with life.

Since 2003, ANZ’s award winning financial literacy education program MoneyMinded has reached more than 496,900 people in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region.

ANZ was one of the first foreign banks in Vietnam when it opened in 1993, and remains committed to supporting the broader community.

In addition to MoneyMinded, ANZ is involved with Project 3E, a multi-year educational community initiative with the Saigon Children’s Charity and the local government, which has successfully built eight schools benefiting around 3,100 students in Long My, Hau Giang. The Project 3E plans to complete construction of two more schools in 2018.
