Japanese jazz musician to perform in Hanoi

Japanese jazz musician Yamashita Yosuke will stage a concert at the Hanoi Opera House at 8 p.m. on February 1 and 2.

The concert, under the baton of Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji, is expected to feature some masterpieces such as Candide Overture by Leonard Bernstein, Jazz pizzicato and Waltzing cat by Leroy Anderson, and American in Paris by George Gershwin.

Born in 1942, the Japanese artist started pursuing his passion for playing the piano at the age of 17 and has quickly gained fame for his excellent piano playing skills.

He has performed at international music festivals and received a medal from the Japanese government for his contributions to Japanese music.

Saxophonist Quyen Van Minh and the National Symphony Orchestra of Vietnam will be present at the two-day concert.
