HCMC – The Government of Vietnam will make conditions more favorable for Singaporean companies to do business in Vietnam, especially the establishment of a hi-tech park in the central coastal city of Danang, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

He was speaking at his meeting in Hanoi City last Friday with a Singaporean business delegation led by Douglas Foo, President of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation, reports the Vietnam News Agency.

He spoke highly of the Vietnam-Singapore strategic partnership, saying bilateral relations have grown significantly.

Singapore is now the third biggest investor in Vietnam with around 2,000 projects capitalized at US$42 billion, rising nearly two-fold compared to 2013 when the two nations upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership.

He praised the late Singaporean leader Lee Kuan Yew’s initiative for connecting the two economies, saying Vietnamese and Singaporean enterprises can make greater achievements.

Douglas Foo said his impression during his visit to Danang City was that the city has sufficient conditions to become what Singapore is today. Danang should develop itself into a garden city if it is to lure more tourists, he proposed.

The PM asked the Danang government to consider all these proposals and then report to the central Government.
