About 70 domestic and foreign pilots and 100 guests will participate in the paragliding festival “Flying over rising water on terraced paddies” scheduled to take place from May 18 to 20 in the northwestern province of Yen Bai.

The paragliding festival is jointly held by the Vietwings Hanoi Club and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Yen Bai Province on Khau Pha mountain pass in Mu Cang Chai District, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

Participants will have a chance to share paragliding experiences and techniques, and explore the unending beauty of northwestern nature.

To prepare for the festival, the organizers have invested heavily in takeoff and landing zones, parking lots and sightseeing area in the festival site.

Khau Pha Pass is 250 kilometers from Hanoi, with imposing mountains and forests covered in fog all year round. It is one of the longest mountain passes in Vietnam at more than 1,200 meters above sea level.

When the rainy season starts in May, visitors can see glittering ponds on terraced fields before local farmers transplant rice seedlings.
