Creative Sessions with Alexander Tu to be held at The Factory

Creative Sessions will be hosted by Dr Alexander Tu, co-founder of “Soul Dance,” as part of a program by the Soul Music and Performing Arts Academy, at The Factory Contemporary Arts Center in HCMC’s District 2 on June 13, starting at 7 p.m.

An occupational therapist, choreographer and dancer, Tu will share his method of using dance to improve health. He has just returned to Vietnam after winning prestigious awards in the United States, which have had a great impact on his desire to teach and creatively collaborate with the community in HCMC.

Creative Sessions was developed as a way to share the inspiration behind creative thinking in Vietnam. Whether the participants are artists, architects, chefs, fashion designers, illustrators, musicians, scientists or writers, these sessions seek to demonstrate how creativity can involve allowing their minds to expand and may be as much about learning a discipline as it is about noticing the extraordinary in everyday things.

The Factory Contemporary Arts Center is the first purpose-built space for contemporary art in Vietnam. As an independent organization, it is a “factory” of critical ideas, a site of constant physical transformation, a network of people who strive to speak about tangible and intangible cultural memories that matter and are indelibly unique.

Established in 2016 by artist Ti-A, The Factory aims to be a dynamic destination for art, designing innovative programs illustrating the creative criticality of Vietnam today.

Creative Sessions will take place in English with Vietnamese translation. Entrance tickets cost VND35,000 per person and include access to The Factory’s exhibitions, reading room and public programs.
