“Art and Music”, a program introducing paintings and music performances by young talent, was held at The Myst Dong Khoi Hotel in HCMC last Saturday. Sponsored by The Myst, the program was prepared and organized by the participating teenagers themselves.

“Art and Music” is not only an artistic event for the teenagers to show off their talent and passion for arts but also a meaningful social program since all proceeds from the event, estimated at VND120 million (nearly US$5,300), have been used to support single elderly and needy people.

The event featured Xeo Chu, a little painter who created his first artworks when he was as young as four years. In early May, more than 20 paintings by Xeo Chu were sold in an exhibition at Ion Art Gallery Singapore.

Xeo Chu brought to “Art and Music” two paintings, along with several postcards, notebooks, and art books, for auction or sale.

Thien An and Thien Kim sisters brought the audience to its feet with cheering and lissome dance performance, followed by the beautiful voice of Quoc Khanh, a young talent who is former ambassador of the Soul Music and Performing Arts Academy.

Young pianist Van Nguyen, who started playing piano when he was four and won the Piano Audition golden award at the Singapore Performing Arts Festival 2016, presented mystifying piano pieces.

The audience was also treated to a robust saxophone performance by Charlie, an excellent student of great saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan.

The performances were as innocent and joyful as the young artists’ teenagehood, attracting more than 100 participants, with saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan and his daughter Tran An being the special guests.

Van Nguyen from Saigon South International School, initiator of the program, said he hopes there will be similar programs in the future so he can contribute more to helping disadvantaged people.
