HCMC – Ministry of Public Security investigators on June 21 detained three former and one current executive of major oil exploration and processing firms on alleged charges of abusing power to appropriate assets, the ministry’s website reports.

The ministry’s Investigative Police Department (C46) had been probing three major graft cases involving Tu Thanh Nghia, 56, former general director of Vietnamese-Russian oil firm Vietsovpetro (VSP), Vo Quang Huy, 57, former chief accountant of VSP, Dinh Van Ngoc, 45, former general director of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co Ltd (BSR), and Nguyen Tuan Hung, 47, finance manager of Petrovietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP).

The ministry said on its website that these probes had been conducted under the instruction of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption.

The arrests of the four men came immediately after C46 issued four separate decisions pressing charges against them in line with Article 355 of the Penal Code. C46 also decided to raid their homes.
