Vietnam to have new hospitality school next September

By Thanh Hoa

HCMC - The Imperial International Hotel School (IIHS), a hospitality management school meeting  international standards, is projected to open its doors in Vietnam in September, aiming to provide qualified human resources for the local tourism industry.

James J. Maher, president of Niagara University in New York, the United States, and Huynh Trung Nam, Imperial Group chairman, on June 21 announced the plan at a press meeting.

The school will officially open for enrollment in September and will only enroll some 75 students. It seeks to collaborate with Niagara University to offer training courses meeting international standards, said Nam.

The two schools, under the cooperation agreement, will provide a bachelor program of hospitality management (two years) and training courses in business administration and hospitality operations (four months) to help create jobs and promotion opportunities for fresh graduates who have unsteady jobs or have yet to apply for jobs.

The cooperation agreement will leverage the strengths of both parties. The five-star Imperial Hotel in Vung Tau Province will assist with training interns.

IIHS is the first school of hospitality management in the country to apply international standards, with courses designed and assessed by an American university. Notably, the students will be instructed in English and will spend 70% of the course interning at the five-star hotel.
