HCMC - The sixth HCMC International Marathon will be held in Phu My Hung Urban Area in District 7 on January 13, 2019 under the auspices of the Association of Athletics Federations in HCMC and the HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

With the theme “Dream Big with the City,” the event aims to encourage people who love running to get over their limitation and have a marathon experience.

It features a wide range of distances including Marathon (42 kilometers) and Half Marathon (21, 10 and 5 kilometers).

Participants of the three longest distances will have a chance to conquer Phu My Bridge, the biggest cable-stayed bridge in the city with a length of more than 700 meters.

In addition, there will be the Kids Dash (1 kilometer) and Kids Dash Ultra (2 kilometers) which are designed especially for children to encourage them to be active and healthy.

According to Adam Carey, fitness expert and spokesman of GO Run for Fun Foundation (GRFF), running has significant benefits for children. "Running gets children outdoors, builds strong bodies, increases energy and is instrumental in maintaining a healthy body weight,” he said.

A Warm-Up Day will be held one day before the race day with a lot of activities, not only for runners to get ready for the biggest marathon in the country but also for families, children and young people to have a great day-out.

All finishers of the Marathon and Half Marathon will receive finisher medals and T-shirts. A prize will be given to each of the top three finishers in each of the categories.

The HCMC International Marathon 2018 drew 8,000 runners, up more than 50% compared the first event in 2013, with many of them coming from China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia.
