VinaCapital terminates investment in Ba Huan

VinaCapital Group on August 7 announced to suspend its investment in Vietnam’s leading poultry egg and meat producer Ba Huan, following the latter’s proposal to the Prime Minister to seek help with the deal termination. According to a press release of VinaCapital, the two sides are now working together to cancel the deal in the spirit of law compliance and mutual benefits.

Domestic firms vague about franchise

Most of Vietnamese enterprises that have franchised their brands to other countries have done so upon opportunities offered by foreign firms, instead of mapping out specific strategies on their own, Nguyen Phi Van, chairwoman of Retail & Franchise Asia, told local media on August 7.

Taxi stands designated in city center

HCMC will introduce taxi stands in District 1 on a trial basis in six months, starting from today, August 8. According to the HCMC Department of Transport, taxi stands are chosen on a trial basis on Ly Tu Trong street’s section in front of Children’s Hospital No. 2, and on Nguyen Du street’s section near Galaxy cinema theater, Children's Hospital No. 2 and the InterContinental hotel.

Vietnam to tighten tax management over online businesses

A draft law on Taxation Management has added many regulations on e-commerce businesses via Google and social media platforms, such as building database and launching e-taxation services comprising e-tax declaration, e-invoice, heard attendees at a meeting held on August 7, jointly organized by the General Department of Taxation and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). The move aims to put online businesses under stringent control, reported local media.

PM chairs conference on wood exports

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is chairing a conference today on the woodworking industry with an aim to set out orientations and solutions to the fast and sustainable development of the industry and forestry exports, the Government news website reported.

Cashew export prices likely to recover

Despite declines in cashew export volume and value, its price is forecast to recover in the coming period, thanks to the increasing demand and dwindling supply in year-end months, according to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
