HCMC – Representatives of three successful Vietnamese startups traveled to Malaysia this Sunday, August 12 to sound out business opportunities for their projects there.

The three projects were chosen to join the international startup exchange program “Runway to the World,” held by the Saigon Innovation Hub (SIHUB) under the HCMC Department of Science and Technology.

The Boom Potty project introduces toilet accessories for children aged from eight months to three-and-a-half years old.

Meanwhile, the Gcalls project is an integrated call center management solution that helps small and medium-sized enterprises to optimize their resources by digitally transforming their call centers to upgrade their sales or service capacity.

Besides this, the EyeQ Tech project provides a smart camera app with facial recognition. Its main clients are companies manufacturing and installing advertising boards inside lift cabins in apartment buildings, office buildings and commercial centers. The app helps the advertising board manufacturers determine the number of people that have seen the advertising clips as well as their age and gender.

The SIHUB is sponsoring the entrepreneurs of the three projects, providing air tickets and paying for hotel fees during their stay in Malaysia. The entrepreneurs are expected to work with Malaysian partners to promote their projects and gain a better understanding of the local market.

Notably, these entrepreneurs are to be instructed by consultants from the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Center, which is a partner of the SIHUB for this program.

The SIHUB plans to sponsor three more Vietnamese startups, sending them to Singapore in mid-September. Three other startups to be chosen later this month will fly to South Korea for training in October.

Last month, six startups – Build Easy, Teleme, Tag La, Telepod, 42 Race and PostCo – from Malaysia and Singapore came to Vietnam as part of the startup exchange program between the three countries.

Runway to the World 2018 was officially launched early this year as a joint effort between the SIHUB and its South Korean partner, Shinhan Future’s Lab.

At the time, three startups from the Northeast Asian country had visited Vietnam not only to seek out business opportunities but also to connect the two startup ecosystems and the markets of the two nations.
