HCMC – Vietnam Motor Show 2018 (VMS 2018), which is slated to open in October, will display some 120 auto models, including new designs with the world’s latest technology, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in HCMC’s District 7.

The Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) and the Vietnam Car Importers Association (VIVA) will co-organize the expo, which was introduced at a press conference. The upcoming event marks a special collaboration between VAMA and VIVA though each had previously functioned as separate organizations for three consecutive years.

The five-day show, starting on October 24, will showcase VIVA and VAMA’s 15 automobile brands across all segments, ranging from popular cars to luxury cars and super-sport autos, comprising Audi, Chevrolet, Ford, Jaguar, Honda, Land Rover, Mitsubishi Motors, Toyota and Volkswagen. Three brands---Aston Martin, Bentley and Lamborghini---will not participate in the show.

VMS 2018 will feature approximately 100 booths manned by enterprises dealing in motor parts and accessories, as well as insurance and finance.

Brand-new imported completely-built-up (CBU) autos, in addition to cars that have been absent in the local market for more than half the year due to difficulties in import procedures, are forecast to be the highlight of the show. According to the organizers, car traders and importers have managed to overcome barriers preventing the import of CBU vehicles.

The small-sized passenger car segment accounts for the highest market share and has reached the fastest growth rate in the local market, priced between VND500 million and VND900 million. In addition to the popular brands, the expo will introduce to customers new models of small-sized hatchbacks, including the Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz and Toyota Wigo.

These hatchbacks not only boast reasonable prices, but they are also equipped with advanced technology and safety features, along with attractive designs, meeting the growing demand of consumers, particularly the youth, according to the organizers.

These autos as pick-ups, crossovers, MPVs and SUVs are expected to draw the attention of the participants with reputable brands, such as the Chevrolet Colorado, Ford Ranger, Pajero Sport and Honda CR-V or HR-V, which offer special editions for the Vietnamese market.

As for luxury cars, the Volvo XC60 Inscription, which received the World Car of the Year 2018 award, will be displayed at the show.

Lexus will display the seven-seater RX350L, which is a completely new and attractive option for Vietnamese customers when it comes to luxury in the SUV segment.

VMS 2018 will also be co-organized by the Asia Trade Fair and Business Promotion JSC and the Vietnam link Media JSC.
