Multiple events held to celebrate Vietnam-Japan relations

HCMC - The Japan Cultural Days in Quang Nam and the 16th Hoi An-Japan Cultural Exchange were held in Hoi An City of Quang Nam Province last week to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, the Vietnam News Agency reports.

Co-held by Quang Nam Province authorities, the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, Vietnamese and Japanese agencies, organizations and businesses, the events were meant for the two countries to promote cooperation in multiple fields including culture, trade, tourism, and human resources development.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Umeda Kunio, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, revealed that “There are more than 120 events held in Japan and Vietnam to celebrate 45 years of the two countries’ diplomatic ties this year.”

According to the Japanese envoy, the Japan Cultural Days in Quang Nam and the 16th Hoi An-Japan Cultural Exchange are “two of the most special events, with the participation of four Japanese cities including Sakai, Oda, Matsusaka, and Minamiboso, along with Nagasaki Prefecture.”

Numerous activities were held during the events, such as introduction of the two countries’ folk games, traditional music performances, fashion shows and martial arts performances, featuring famous Vietnamese and Japanese artists such as singers Miu Le, Vo Ha Tram, Ueno Yuuka, and judoka Masashi Nishiyama, who won a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

In addition, there were a number of trade shows, food fairs, and workshops on environmental protection, smart city development, education and culture.
