HCMC - Thai Festival 2018 will be held in Hanoi on September 15 and 16, featuring Thai street food, traditional dance, Muay Thai (Thai boxing), and many other exciting activities.

There will be performances by traditional art troupes from Chiang Mai and cooking demonstrations by Thai chefs.

According to Charge d'Affaires of the Thai Embassy in Vietnam Wanthanee Viputwongsakul, the festival aims to strengthen ties between Thailand and Vietnam, especially in the areas of culture and tourism. “The embassy would like to introduce every aspect of Thailand to our Vietnamese friends through our delectable cuisine, art performances, muay Thai, and our finest products.”

Wanthanee said that many Thai dishes are popular in Vietnam such as mango sticky rice, tom yum, and pad thai, so Thai chefs will introduce them to visitors.

The event expects to attract 50 businesses from Thailand, and many Thai companies and travel agents operating in Vietnam. This is a good opportunity for them to introduce their products and seek partnerships.

The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Ly Thai To Monument area by Hoan Kiem Lake. Admission is free.

Proceeds from the festival will be donated to charities in Vietnam.

In last year’s event, over VND500 million (about US$22,000) was donated to the National Fund for Vietnamese Children and the Hanoi Association for Victims of Agent Orange, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
