State funeral for late President Tran Dai Quang starts today

HCMC - A two-day State funeral for President Tran Dai Quang, who passed away on September 21 at the age of 62, starts today, September 26, with the tribute-paying ceremony beginning from 7:00 a.m., the Government news website reported.

The ceremony is held at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi.

Members of the late State President’s family will pay tribute first, followed by the delegations of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the National Assembly, the State Presidency, the Government and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, according to regulations on the State funeral organization.

Delegations of ministries, central agencies, localities across the country, the people, and international and diplomatic organizations will also participate in the ceremony and sign the Book of Condolences.

Except for the six wreaths of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the National Assembly, the State Presidency, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and the family, others should not bring wreaths to the funeral.

The memorial service will be held at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow, September 27, at the National Funeral Hall as well. It will be followed by the burial ceremony which will take place from 3:30 p.m. on the same day at the Cemetery of Kim Son District, Ninh Binh Province.

At the same time, at the Reunification Palace in HCMC and the Hall of the People’s Committee of Kim Son District, the respect-paying and memorial ceremonies for late President Tran Dai Quang will also be held.

The Vietnam Television and the Voice of Vietnam will broadcast live the ceremonies in Hanoi, HCMC and Kim Son District, Ninh Binh Province.

During the two-day national mourning, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at State offices and public places, and all recreational and entertainment activities will not be organized.
