HCMC – Large Infrastructure Project Conference 2018, themed, “Build for Life,” taking place in HCMC on October 11, gave attendees an overall outlook on global construction trends and new technology applications in the development of infrastructure.

At the conference on infrastructure development and trends organized by INSEE Vietnam, speakers presented scores of new technologies applicable to construction, green works and smart city development.

A representative of INSEE Vietnam noted that the conference was aimed at creating a prestigious forum for enterprises and State-run agencies to connect and exchange information. INSEE Vietnam expected to build a community of leading construction enterprises to jointly develop infrastructure and modernize urban areas in Vietnam, resulting in a higher quality of life for the people.

Managing Director of Bosch Vietnam Guru Mallikarjuna said that new technology is being applied in developing smart cities, including the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI), in an effort to improve lives.

Meanwhile, new technology applications in the development of public works and buildings are growing in popularity.

Addressing the conference, Hoang Duy Kien, deputy director of ARUP Vietnam, listed a host of new technology, such as AI, IoT, digital transformation and robots, which are being applied to the construction sector, stressing that this sector will be in dire need of robots in the future to replace human beings in performing complicated tasks and to help enterprises deal with the shortage of laborers in construction.

The conference, considered the first international conference on infrastructure in HCMC, attracted more than 250 local and international business leaders, government officials, developers, construction firms, consultants, architects and associations.

Founded in 1994, INSEE, formerly Holcim Vietnam, is a leading waste treatment and building material production enterprise in Southern Vietnam. INSEE Vietnam supplies comprehensive solutions to infrastructure projects in the country.
