HCMC – Three expos, “Metalex Vietnam 2018,” “Nepcon Vietnam 2018” and “Supporting Industry Show 2018,” were opened under the same roof today, October 11, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in HCMC’s District 7.

Isara Burintramart, managing director of Reed Tradex Company, the organizer of the events, remarked that the Metalex and Nepcon expos have been organized each year for the past decade to help keep industrial manufacturers abreast of the latest developments in the fields of metalworking and electronics.

In particular, Metalex Vietnam 2018 will showcase a wide range of new machining tools and the metalworking solutions of 500 brands from 25 countries and territories, including the branded firms of Hoffmann, Hexagon, Takamaz and Weldcom.

Meanwhile, the Nepcon trade show serves as a platform for over 200 exhibitors, who are suppliers from 20 countries and territories, to display their technology, electronics and parts and components, as well as to establish trade ties.

The Supporting Industry show is expected to enable Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises to engage in face-to-face business discussions on developing supply chains for the supporting industries. Trade visitors to this show will be local suppliers as well as Japanese buyers.

The Supporting Industry event gathers 29 manufacturers from Japan. Of these, many branded firms currently operating in Vietnam are expected to facilitate the links between Japanese buyers and local parts makers, contributing to raising the number of locally made Vietnamese products in the years to come.

Takimoto Koji, head of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Vietnam, said nearly 2,500 Japanese companies are running businesses in Vietnam. Over 50% of them operate in the manufacturing industry and mostly import parts and components from overseas. They have made continuous efforts to increase the volume of domestically made Vietnamese products but presently can only purchase 30% of their parts in the country.

Reed Tradex organized the three events, which will wrap up on October 13, in collaboration with JETRO, HCMC Investment and Trade Promotion Center, HCMC Center of Supporting Industries Development and Vietnam Electronic Industries Association.
