HCMC - Cai Mep International Terminal in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau tomorrow, January 11, will receive the largest container vessel ever to call at a Vietnamese port.
The CMA CGM Marco Polo container vessel, weighing in at 187,000 tons, has a loading capacity of 17,000 TEUs. The vessel will dock weekly at the terminal.
The terminal is expected to receive even larger vessels when the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership officially takes effect from the middle of this month.
Cai Mep International Terminal is one of the largest terminals in the Cai Mep-Thi Vai port complex. Last year, the complex received 2.87 million TEUs of goods, up 17% over the previous year.
