Auto prices still high despite zero import tariffs
The prices of automobiles remained high in spite of the import duty on completely-built-up (CBU) cars imported from ASEAN markets falling to zero from 30% in 2017. Customers did not benefit from the reduction, and even paid a high price for CBU autos under nine seats last year.
HCMC to auction five land lots in Thu Thiem
HCMC vice chairman Tran Vinh Tuyen has assigned the Department of Finance to coordinate with the Thu Thiem New Urban Area Management Board and other relevant agencies to propose the starting price for five land lots in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area project in Binh Khanh Ward in HCMC’s District 2 as the city will put up these land lots for auction, according to a report in Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper.
Deputy PM expects inflation of 3.3-3.9%
Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, head of the Government's Steering Committee for Price Management, at a meeting of the committee on January 17, asked ministries, agencies and localities to try to keep inflation this year in the range of 3.3%-3.9%, news site Vietnamplus reported.
HCMC looks to attract 8.5 million international tourists
The HCMC Department of Tourism plans to organize a slew of activities to introduce the city’s tourism products and services at the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) and the Travel Exchange (TRAVEX) fair 2019, which take place in Quang Ninh Province from January 13 to 19 to fulfill its target to welcome 8.5 million international tourists this year, Thanh Nien newspaper reported.
