HCMC – Two large cruise ships, Celebrity Constellation and Celebrity Millennium, today (February 11) carried some 4,000 international tourists from the United States, the United Kingdom and France to Phu My Port in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The tourists left the port to join tours to sites in Vung Tau, HCMC and My Tho (Tien Giang Province).

According to tour operator Saigontourist Travel Service Company, which arranged the port calls for the cruise ships and arranged the tours for passengers, it had to mobilize 90 buses and 90 English-speaking tour guides to serve the large number of tourists visiting the country at the same time.

The tourists visited key destinations in HCMC like Cu Chi tunnels and Can Gio Ecological Tourist site, and toured Thoi Son Islet in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang.

The ship Celebrity Constellation will be leaving Phu My Port this evening as it ends its tour of Vietnam, while the Celebrity Millennium will continue its cruise to the two central cities of Nha Trang and Hue. In addition, it will sail to multiple tourist attractions in Danang and Hoi An before leaving the country on February 14.

During the Tet holiday, several travel agencies that arranged cruise tours said that the number of cruise ships visiting the country was high and that they expected cruise tourism to see robust growth this year.

As for Saigontourist, it recorded healthy growth in the field of cruise tourism last year, with some 475,000 tourists visiting Vietnam, up 12% versus 2017.
