HANOI - The Ministry of Industry and Trade has allowed Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) to increase its power generation prices for power purchases from competing plants.

In particular, the contract price for power purchased from plants using imported coal and having a capacity of 1x600MW is VND1,896.05 per kilowatt hour (kWh), whereas the price of power from plants with a capacity of 2x600MW is VND1,677.02 per kWh.

These prices do not include value-added tax and facility costs. The highest price last year was VND1,600 per kWh.

As for hydropower plants, the ceiling price, excluding related taxes and fees, is VND1,110 per kWh, compared with last year’s VND1,090 per kWh.

EVN and power plants are negotiating selling prices based on the new price framework and fuel data, starting from February 12. These prices are not applied to strategic hydropower plants, oil-run plants, build-operate-transfer plants or wind power and solar power plants.
