HCMC – The Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee on November 14 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SK Innovation Co., Ltd (SKI), Doosan Heavy Industries (DHI), Ingine Company and Vingroup on a non-carbon island initiative for the home province to generate green energy.

This MoU is another step forward following the meeting between the leaders of the province earlier on September 24 to discuss a project to generate electricity from sea waves with a capacity of 100 KW, contributed to An Binh Islet, at a cost of some US$1 million.

Under the MoU, which remains in force until December 31, 2021, each party will assume certain roles and responsibilities.

Quang Ngai Province will cooperate with and support the involved parties in the process of surveying and making project proposals, directing functional agencies to guide and support the parties to complete the administrative procedures of the project based on provincial regulations and authority.

SKI will take respobsibility for proposing the non-carbon island initiative and rolling out projects such as the distribution of ecofriendly items for Quang Ngai Province.

DHI will actively participate in the initiative at the RO desalination plants.

Ingine will provide wave to energy techonology for the initiative for Ly Son District.

Meanwhile, Vingroup, as a Vietnamese business partner of the initiative, will sponsor environmentally friendly vehicles associated with the battery system and charging stations manufactured and installed by the VinFast Manufacturing and Trading Company Ltd --- a subsidiary of Vingroup.
