First Ryan’s Grocery store opens in HCMC

Leading Singapore-based boutique grocery and butcher brand Ryan’s Grocery officially inaugurated on December 7 its first organic food store in Vietnam at 200 Pasteur, Ward 6, District 3.

The opening ceremony welcomed the participation of representatives from the franchisor Ryan’s Grocery, the local franchisee PM Quynh Lam, and especially Mr Roy Kho, Consul General of Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City.

First international organic food franchise store

Ryan’s Saigon store marks the very first international organic product franchise in the country, with all products on its shelves labelled by world’s leading prestigious institutions – the principle that has helped Ryan’s Grocery gain customers’ trust in its home country from the very first days and is currently known as the most comprehensive organic food catering in Singapore with full-service onsite butchery since 2015.

Covering over 400 sqm at a prime location, the first “Singaporean organic house” in Vietnam is a wholesome one-stop destination encompassing over 600 types of globally certified organic products - from seasonal organic vegetables to organic and free-range meats, even to gourmet cheeses. The store also has its support centre and an elegant dining area to deliver the best experiences to customers. Shoppers can speak to trained butchers or friendly staff for suggestions and tips to create wonderfully delicious meals suited for the home chef.

Having advantages of specializing in organic food and gluten-free products, as well as partnerships with distinctive brands from the U.S., Japan, and Australia, Ryan’s Grocery and PM Quynh Lam are set to introduce outstanding quality products through professional services to domestic consumers.

More options for local foodies with exquisite tastes and special dietary requirements

Standing out from other food vendors in this particular market segment as the only one-stop-shop store in Vietnam that meets all international quality standards for organic, Ryan’s Grocery Saigon also promises to become a reliable shopping destination in Vietnam for discerning foodies, who look for a supplier of safe, allergen-free, preservative-free, and gluten-free food, especially organic meats with no added hormones and antibiotics at the highest quality offerings.

“Vietnam’s organic food market is holding great potential as significantly growing numbers of Vietnamese people have a high demand for and are turning to use clean, organic, and qualified food products,” said Ms Wendy Foo, Founder of Ryan’s Grocery Singapore.

Ms Wendy Foo never saw herself becoming the founder of a gluten-free grocery and organic butchery. It was the alarming discovery about her son’s intolerance to dairy, gluten, and certain types of fruits and vegetables that led her to open Ryan's Grocery with her husband, which now strives to cater to a growing community who requires special dietary options for both health and ethical reasons.

“I saw a lot of customers from Vietnam coming to our store in Singapore and asked to buy organic food so that’s why I’ve started the franchise program and partnered with PM Quynh Lam, a local leading organic products supplier,” she recalls.

Making differences in the organic food supply

Ryan’s Grocery mindfully sources food from certified organic and free-range farms that are ensured with humane animal treatment, and advocates a farm-to-table movement to ensure the best meat brought to its customers. All products at Ryan’s Saigon store are imported from farms and manufacturers in Australia and Singapore with certified production processes.

Among them is the APIQ Free Range Certification, which stipulates livestock to be raised in an open and free farm model that follow strict standards. This farming model aims to reduce the stress level for livestock to the lowest level, creating a basis for sustainable production of high-quality, succulent, soft and completely natural meat.

In particular, Ryan’s Grocery offers the superior Borrowdale pork – national winner of ‘Best Australian Pork Award 2018’ and one of the few carbon-neutral pork brands in the world. There is also the high-quality organic beef from Mara Organic that is accredited by the EU. The beef is finished on organic pastures, with silage and organic grains that are suited to premium market specifications.

More than just a business, by introducing clean and high-quality food to the local market, Ryan’s Grocery sets a higher mission, which is to promote a healthy lifestyle to consumers by choosing organic food from certified origins to protect the health of themselves and their loved ones. Thanks to the closed process and highest standards applied, Vietnamese customers are now assured to receive the best only onto your plate.

Ms Mai Thi Quynh Trang, General Director of PM Quynh Lam, explains the company’s philosophy of ‘Beyond a Meal’: “Our goal is to provide an optimal solution for safe, premium quality food for gourmets and people on special diets. Since eating is not only about getting your stomach filled but also curing and preventing possible health problems, so knowing the origin of your foods should be of priority. Through our products and services, Ryan’s Grocery hopes to make efforts to contribute and improve the local public health and natural environment.”

PM Quynh Lam and Ryan’s Grocery set their sights on establishing a chain of organic food stores across Vietnam in the future, with two coming outlets in District 2 and District 7 next year.
