HCMC - “Cha cong con” (Father and Son), a 90-minute Vietnamese drama film directed by Luong Dinh Dung, is being screened in Saudi Arabia throughout February.

The film screenings take place at King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, which was named one of the world’s 100 greatest places by Time magazine in 2018, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

“Father and Son” tells the story of a man named Moc and his son, Ca, who live by a river and make their living by fishing every day. Ca always dreams of touching the clouds and visiting fairy lands. However, he suffers from an incurable disease and cannot wait until the day his father has enough money to take him to the doctor.

The film has been screened in over 10 countries and won a number of prestigious international prizes, including the Best Cinematography award at the 17th Milano International Film Festival, Best Foreign Feature and Special Jury Award for Outstanding Cinematography at the 26th Arizona International Film Festival, and Indie Spirit Best Storyline award at the 15th Boston International Film Festival.

The film will be screened in eight other countries this year, according to the producer.

After the success of “Father and Son”, director Luong Dinh Dung is preparing for another movie titled “578”, which will be filmed in Moc Chau, Hoa Binh, Ninh Binh, Haiphong, Hanoi and HCMC.
