HCMC – The Ministry of Health today, February 13, announced that a man in Vinh Phuc Province, the father of a coronavirus-infected woman who had been treated and discharged from hospital earlier, had tested positive for the virus, taking the nation's total to 16.

The 50-year-old man, N.V.V., is a resident of Son Loi Commune of Binh Xuyen District, which has been put in quarantine for 20 days as it has reported the most cases in the country, the local media reported.

His daughter N.T.D. is one of the eight Vietnamese workers who left the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, for Vietnam on a Southern China Airlines flight on January 17 after a worker training course in Wuhan.

When N.T.D. tested positive for the deadly virus, those who came in close contact with her were placed in quarantine.

On February 11, the father started showing signs of fatigue, so his blood sample was sent to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for testing. He has now been isolated at Quang Ha Area General Clinic in Vinh Phuc Province and is in stable condition..

His wife and other daughter have also caught the virus, which the World Health Organization has named Covid-19.

N.T.D. was discharged from the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases on February 10.

Among the 16 confirmed coronavirus cases in Vietnam, seven people have been discharged from hospitals.
