Vietnam reports 21st coronavirus case

HCMC – A 61-year-old man who was seated near N.H.N., the 17th Covid-19 patient in Vietnam, on a flight from the United Kingdom to Vietnam on March 2 has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry today, March 8, stated that the latest coronavirus patient, who resides in Hanoi, is the 21st confirmed case in Vietnam, the local media reported.

He and N.H.N. were in the business-class cabin on Vietnam Airlines flight VN0054. He has been in isolation at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Kim Chung Commune of Hanoi’s Dong Anh District since March 6.

N.H.N. tested positive for the virus after a trip to the United Kingdom, France and Italy. Vietnam has informed the three European countries of this confirmed case of virus infection.

A 27-year-old chauffeur for the family of N.H.N. and her aunt aged 64 have been confirmed as positive for the virus.
